MWC G10SL Old Pattern Made from 2000 to 2005 - MWC's First Tritium Self Luminous Watch - Fault if Any Unknown
This watch is a MWC G10SL, MWC made these from 2000-2005 and it was their first GTLS G10 model, I hadn't seen one of these for several years until this one was at a military sale. Below is a full description of this particular watch and the issues which it has (or is reported to have because in many cases the watches do not have significant issues, below that is the full information relating to this model from the factory website which gives full details of all of the dimensions, specification and other information relating to the watch.
We buy these watches from various defence auctions and other disposal sales and it's frequently the case that we find that there is actually nothing wrong with the watch but it has to be assumed it will have some form of fault though in most cases it's very minor or as described below. These watches are disposed of at low-cost because we find that one of the problems is pressure of time for our service staff in the UK and elsewhere and in most cases they have given them a quick check over and nothing is immediately apparent though we have to assume that there is either no real fault with the watch or something will reveal itself over time in which case it’s normally a simple case of a service, repair or battery exchange depending on the exact model
Condition: Excellent looks new with plastic on the crystal as in images.
Fault: Unknown but most likely just a battery as the watch is between 13 and 18 years old and looks very new.
MWC no longer sell anything exactly the same as this model but the one here at £150 is close https://www.mwcwatches.com/products/mwc-g10sl-5900-tritium-self-luminous-watch
Original MWC Description:
SKU Code: G10SL
Type G10SL is an authentic US - military watch designed and built according to specifications defined in MIL-W-46374 F. These are the first military timepieces ever to be equipped with the patented mb-microtec H3 permanent light technology. Thousands of these two H3 models have been issued to the men and women of the US Armed Forces.
The MWC G10SL is a self luminous infantry watch which is equipped with a special tritium light source. The watch is very easy to reas and carries standard 12 hours markings with 24 hour annotation. The distinctive radioactive tri-foil symbol appears on the watch face, as does the H3 (Tritium) notation, because the hour positions, the zero position on the unidirectional bezel, and the hour and minute hands each have a brightly glowing vial of tritium gas. Taken together they contain less thatn the personal limit of 25 millicuries (U.S Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations 10 CFR 20.15.).
These tiny, airtight Tritium vials, sealed under high pressure are 100 times brighter than any other current illumination system such as luminova, bright enough in fact to read a map if the watch is held close enough.
If your preference is for the classic G10 design but with this cutting edge military technology then this watch is the one for you.
